I had luck printing a few months ago under 14.04 with Michael Gruz's repository. I installed it with gdebi. pixmaip1000, pixmaip1500 series. Sudo Add-apt-repository Ppa:inameiname/stable however, after doing something that was suggested earlier on this webpage, i was able to connect my printer and do the scanning wirelessly.
